2. John2 Crain Sr. (James1)1,1,1 was born in 1742 in King William Co., Virginia.1 He married Frances Pond in 1765 in Virginia.1 He died in 1831 in Mercer Co., Kentucky.1
John and Frances were married about 1765, probably in Virginia. between 1765 and 1792 they had 12 children. Some of the children came to Kentucky and we list 4 of them here because of their connections to Kentucky and the community around the cemetery.1

3. Thomas2 Crain Sr. (James1)1 was born in 1754 in King William Co., Virginia. He married Theodocia Lee circa 1782 in Virginia. He married Mary "Polly" Potts on April 21, 1812 in Mercer Co., Kentucky.1 He died on March 10, 1833 in Mercer Co., Kentucky.1
By his 1st wife Theodocia, he had children Tarleton, Theodocia, Cary, Eli B., and Patsy Crain. Most of them moved to California.1

All other sources list Mar 2, 1810. The bondsman was James Pipes and the bride's father was listed as John Pipes. Witnesses were Nathaniel Pipes and Thomas Crane.1,2 He died in 1823 in Mercer Co., Kentucky.

Mary 'Polly' Pipes was born circa 1793 in Kentucky. She married Franklyn Broyles after 1824 in Mercer Co., Kentucky.1 She married (_____) Jones before 1840 in Mercer Co., Kentucky. She was married second to Franklyn Broyles but is mentioned with the name Crane in her father's will in 1821 and with the name Polly Jones in her Mother's estate papers in 1842. in 1821.1
