John Abner "Jack" Pipes and Abner Pipes

Company "G"

22nd Texas Infantry "Hubbard's Regiment"


John Abner Pipes (known as 'Jack') and Abner Pipes were brothers and sons of John Pipes and Mary Gibbons. Jack was born in Mississippi in 1823 and Abner was born in Union Parish, Louisiana in 1831. John and Mary moved their family to Texas sometime between 1840 and 1850 and settled in the Smith County area.

 Jack married Charlotte J. "Lottie" Scott in Texas in 1861 and they raised 5 children. He died in Texas sometime after 1880 and some of his children moved to Oklahoma.

Abner married Sarah Jane Gourley in Cherokee County , Texas in 1856. They raised 6 children and moved to Oklahoma sometime after 1880. Abner is buried in Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson, Carter Co., Oklahoma but there are no dates on the marker.

Both men enlisted in Hubbard's 22nd Texas Infantry and were assigned to Company "G".
