Lieut.
King W. Pipes, United States Army corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Pipes of
Clinton, La., was killed in action in the Pacific on December 20, according to
a telegram from Washington received here by relatives yesterday.
The
23-year old pursuit pilot was the grandson of Mrs. David Pipes, Sr., the
brother of Randolph Pipes Jr., and Eleanor Pipes, and a nephew of Mr. and Mrs.
Fort Pipes, all of New Orleans. He was born in New Orleans and lived here
before moving to Clinton.
Lieutenant
Pipes attended Louisiana State University and was a member of the Kappa Alpha
social fraternity. The telegram announcing that he had been killed in action in
defense of his country, expressed the sympathy of the secretary of war.
