It is not likely that he was born there, but may have been born in North Carolina or some area in between the two.1 He married Winney Johnston (2252) on Mar 25, 1812 in Barren Co., Kentucky.4 He died between 1850 and 1860 in Limestone Co., Alabama (He is listed in the 1850 Census for Limestone Co., But his wife Winna is living with her children in the 1860 Census and he is not listed).1

4. Sarah2 Pipes (1298) (Phillip1) was born circa 1780 in North Carolina. She married William Pipes (244), son of Sylvanus Pipes (193), on Jan 31, 1800 in Mercer Co., Kentucky (Bondsman was Phillip Pipes).7,8 She died on Jan 27, 1855 in Boone Co., Missouri.

Mo. Names not known, and William C. Pipes heir of Andrew J. Pipes dec).11 William is listed on an 1804 Tax List for Wayne Co Kentucky. The entry is recorded in June Bork " Wayne Co. Ky, Records" Volume 1, page 225. The entry states " to Washington Co.". We assume this means that he was in Wayne Co. and returned to Washington Co in 1804. William and Sarah were later ( in 1810) to migrate to Missouri as one of the pioneer families in that state. He left a will on Oct 4, 1852 in Boone Co., Missouri.9

The following was reported by Betty Higbee in communication with me in April of 1999. Grant was a small man of 5' 4" in height. He worked as a coal miner and lived in Washington state, Wyoming and Montana around the turn of the century. He was an active member of the United Mine Workers of America and served as a delegate to many Union functions. He was also elected to the office of Police Magistrate in Cherry, Bureau Co., Illinois in 1926.31
