A Pipes Crest and Coat Of Arms | |
Introduction: | |
I recently received this note
via email and the included images from David Pipes, who may be a distant
cousin. ( I hope that is true as he seems like a very nice person and he
cares about being accurate and honest) He lives in England and is in
fact a cousin to fellow countryman Fred ( Alan) Pipes who we have heard
from before. David is interested in the Pipes heritage here and in
England and may uncover some interesting information that he will share
with us.
David's email in 2008 is: David Pipes |

Dear Bob, Hope you are keeping well. About 12 years ago I requested some details from Burke's Peerage and recently came across the book they supplied when I resumed researching my family history. I thought that you might be interested in the information they provided (although I suspect that you may already have seen this information). Burke's Peerage advised that the Pipes Coat of Arms is officially documented in Burke's General Armoury and the description when translated is "Gold: a Blue Horizontal band between six Crosses Crosslet". The two attachments show the crest with the colours indicated by dots (gold) and blue (parallel lines across) and a colour version. Unfortunately, even if you were able to establish a direct blood line to the person originally granted the Crest, you cannot now use the Coat of Arms. Burke's also gave some general information on the origin of the Pipes name and I attach a copy of their advice. I hope to visit Kew records fairly soon and will let you know if I find anything useful regarding the early Pipes emigrants from England to America. Regards, David Pipes |
