William is listed on an 1804 Tax List for Wayne Co Kentucky. The entry is recorded in June Bork " Wayne Co. Ky, Records" Volume 1, page 225. The entry states " to Washington Co.". We assume this means that he was in Wayne Co. and returned to Washington Co in 1804. William and Sarah were later ( in 1810) to migrate to Missouri as one of the pioneer families in that state. He left a will on Oct 4, 1852 in Boone Co., Missouri.3

This consent was signed by George Pipes, so he was still in Ky. in 1817. George was married to Gemima Pipes in 1798, making Polly about 18 years old at her marriage.

John Levell (1374)23,23 was born on Apr 17, 1783 in Virginia His birth place may be Kentucky or Va.23 He died in Sep, 1833 in Boone Co., Missouri, at age 50.23 John and Mary relocated their family to Boone Co., Mo. shortly after 1830. This family was reconstructed from the Howard Co. census records from 1850, 1860 and 1870. In 1850 Thomas is married to a woman named Symphony with two daughters. In 1870 Symphony is gone, a domestic is present and 5 children. In 1870 A new wife named Pollie is present and two more small children are in the household. More work needs to be done on this line.24

Sullivan County Web Site has Sept 13, 1845. His first wife died Oct 15 1849, so the 2nd marriage had to be after that date. Their first child is born in 1858. Unless there were miscarriages or infant deaths ( A certain possibility) then the date of 1849 is in doubt. The 1850 Census lists Jane as his wife.1,31,24 He died on Aug 18, 1879 in Sullivan Co., Missouri.32 He was buried on Aug 21, 1879 in Deep Springs Cemetery, Cora, Sullivan Co., Missouri.31

He was buried in the Hollon cemetery, beside his wife on their farm place. This cemetery was called the Hollon cemetery and is across the road from the house. Also notes (don't know where they were gotten from) said he had stayed Saturday night with his brother ( Bennett Hollon) and went home Sunday morn. and a short time later drank the acid. He called his son Everett Hollon and told him what he had done and what he wanted done with his property. Before a doctor could arrive his spirit had taken flight An inquest was held. He gave no reason for his rash behaver. Rev. Clay preformed the service. James Preston Pipes was the second child of that first marriage. After Elizabeth died in 1849, Anderson Pipes married Emily Jane Sevier. Anderson and Emily had three children. The youngest of those three children was William L. Sherman Pipes. So, William L. Sherman Pipes was the half-brother of James Preston Pipes, not his son. For confirmation of this information you can now see the death certificate of William Sherman Pipes on Missouri on-line death records (death certificates for 1958, the year of William Sherman's death, were added just this year). The death certificate for William has a typographical error in it - his last name is erroneously typed "Piper". So the Missouri death index originally had William listed as a "Piper." The impressive ceremony was performed by Rev. Rice of the Methodist Episcopal Chruch, South. The house was artistically decorated with plants, bride's roses and chrysanthemums, and the soft glow of the shaded lights added to the picturesqueness of the scene. The bride was beautifully gowned in a becoming shade of blue crepe meteor with chiffon sleeves, and wore a corsage bouquet of bride's roses. The groom was becomingly attired in dark blue. After the ceremony delicate refreshments were served to the guests who consisted of the immediate relatives and friends. During the evening Miss Flo Hunter sang, 'I Love You Truly' and other appropriate selections. Miss Nevis is a charming young lady and has many friends who hope that 'Love's light summer cloud sweetly shall cast all the shadow that e'er shall fall o'er her.' Mr. Burnham is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Burnham, one of the best known families of Milan, and is an exemplary young man, worthy of the mate he has won. "Loren Pipes was to me a wonderful Christian man I have some pictures of him. He was not a relative but a Brother in the Lord and I have chosen not to forget the ones of my childhood. He died 5/1975." Naomi in Idaho LORAN BERYL PIPES: Loran Beryl Pipes was born on July 13 1897 to A. L. and May Pipes in the state of Missouri. His father being an early day holiness of the aggressive sort caused them to move quite a lot, but son, Beryl, was taught by precept and example the way of holiness and was converted at a early age. He was later sanctified called to preach. He was a useful minister and contender for the vital doctrines of Bible holiness and the One Church in the New Testament polity and order. In the early 20’s he moved with his family to Cuba, Alabama to help reestablish the Independent Holiness forces there. But after a short time they moved to Ft. Scott, Kansas where he labored effectively with the local church and the Good Way paper, also in outlying communities. In 1935 they moved to Fresno, California where he lived until his death. Since his retirement from the contracting business, he has been away from home much of the time evangelizing among the churches and building up mission stations in the States and in Mexico. Also in Japan he labored in this way. He was a supporter of missions and made a tour around the world, visiting missions in India, Japan and other places. His hands and judgment will be greatly missed throughout the Independent Holiness Work. Bro. Pipes was married to Nina Gertrude Cooper on September 13, 1918 in Mexico Missouri by Bro. M. P. Points For a short time following he was in Military Training at Fulton Mo.
