The family of Joseph Pipes and Hannah Johnson - Linn Co., Iowa - 1850

Joseph died in Greene Co., Pa. in late 1849. His wife Hannah moved to Linn Co., sometime in 1850 and is shown there with her 4 children in October of 1850 for the Census. There are several other families from Pennsylvania in the same area, so they may have traveled here together. It is also possible that her family, the Johnsons, moved here and brought her with them. Neither Hannah or Joseph are mentioned in his fathers estate settlement after 1856, but by that time Hannah had re-married. The children married and stayed in this area, although the youngest daughter Phoebe moved with her family to Kansas after 1871.

The other children were Johnathan, Daniel and Charity. Jonathan married Phoebe Allard and was in the Civil War and apparently passed on before 1880. Charity married a  man named Ephraim Ellis and Daniel's fate is not known at this time.
